Allen and Heath Qu-16 Digital Mixer Chrome Edition

Allen and Heath Qu-16 Digital Mixer Chrome Edition
the Allen and Heath Qu-16 i s ideal for live studio and installation applications. Its a 16 channel mixer that takes digital mixing to a new level. With an innovative rack-mountable design and built in FX EQ and dynamic processing the QU-16 offers all the features youd expect from a class-leading mixer. This is the new chrome edition with updated firmware and chrome knobs.

New Chrome Edition Firmware Automatic Mic Mixer More Monitor Mixes Spectrogram New tools for Qu-Pad App The new Automatic Microphone Mixer (AMM) coming in v1.8 firmware helps the engineer to manage the levels of multiple mic inputs ensuring that each speaker’s contribution is heard but with priority settings to establish an order of precedence. AMM is vital in applications such as conferences meetings and panel discussions where a number of microphones are open at the same time reducing background noise and minimising the risk of feedback. A new Spectrogram tool provides a fast visual means of hunting down and dealing with problem frequencies helping to eliminate feedback and tame difficult room acoustics. Qu v1.8 Chrome firmware also unlocks more monitor mixes by allowing Stereo Groups to be switched to Mix mode. This takes the maximum number of discrete monitor sends to 9 on Qu-24 (4 mono 5 stereo) and 11 on Qu-32 and Qu-Pac (4 mono 7 stereo) making them well suited to compact touring as dedicated monitor consoles. Whether youre switching from analogue or updating your digital desk Qu-16 allows you to experience the new digital with class-leading power and pedigree. The Qu-16 incorporates technologies from Allen & Heaths pioneering GLD and iLive digital mixing systems. 16 AnalogiQ total recall preamps feature zero crossing detection and an advanced padless 1dB step gain stage. The analogue signal is captured by high-class low-latency 24bit analogue to digital converters. Refined to offer superb transparency the AnalogiQ design gives minimal distortion an ultra-low noise floor and a warm musical sound that is missing from some digital consoles. Having all this power is useless if you dont have the controls at your disposal when you need them. The Qu-16 provides a hands-on mixing experience thats fluid comfortable and intuitive for novices and pros alike. A true digital mixer you can save and recall scenes at the press of a button saving up to 100 scenes. Dynamics and FX algorithms are derived from the FX used in Allen & Heaths iLive pro touring series used by some of the worlds most respected engineers. ANALOGIQ PREAMPS Qu-16s sixteen AnalogiQTM total recall preamps feature zero crossing detection and an advanced padless 1dB step gain stage closely allied to the DSP for optimal gain accuracy and audio transparency. The analogue signal is captured by high class low latency 24bit analogue to digital converters matched to high quality 24bit digital to analogue converters to deliver the required outputs. The AnalogiQTM design has been refined over many months to offer superb transparency minimal distortion and an ultra-low noise floor with a warm musical sound that is missing from some digital consoles. TOUCH CONTROL The 800 x 480 sixteen million colour Touchscreen and its dedicated data encoder form the heart of the Qu-16 interface providing super-fast easy access to all settings. The user-friendly interface has been designed with clarity in mind. Dedicated keys and screen tabs quickly guide you to meter and RTA views FX racks channel processing USB audio control scenes setup menus and much more. FADER AUTOMATION Moving faders started as an expensive option in the studio desks of the 80s and later became the norm with the advent of digital technology. Nevertheless some entry-level digital mixers lack this precious commodity which is a fundamental part of the Total Recall approach. Fader automation is essential for rapid mixing especially when you?re dealing with multiple monitor mixes ? just press a mix key and the faders immediately fly to the send levels for that mix. Qu-16 features 17 motorized ALPS faders 16 arranged over 2 layers allowing instant access to all channels and masters in a compact space plus a dedicated master fader which dynamically follows the mix selection. A third Custom layer is available for ad-hoc user strip layout where any combination of Inputs FX Sends FX Returns and Mix masters can be assigned. ILIVE FX Qu-16s dynamics and FX algorithms are derived from the FX used in our iLive pro touring series. Some of the worlds most respected audio engineers have chosen to use iLives FX on tour in preference to top-end plug-ins and external FX units. Qu-16 boasts 4 stereo iLive FX engines featuring lovingly crafted emulations of legendary classic reverbs gated reverbs delays modulators flangers and more. The FX library has the ability to grow with future firmware releases. FX are returned to the mix on dedicated return channels so you?re not tying up your mono and stereo input channels. Each Stereo FX Return has a dedicated 4 band PEQ. TOTAL RECALL True digital mixing is about being able to save and recall scenes (snapshots) at the press of a button. Qu-16 can store up to 100 full Scenes for recall at will. Channels and mixes can be made Safe from Scene recall. For example if an instrument or mic gets swapped out after the soundcheck the channel can be made safe to avoid settings being overridden by Scene recalls. Or if a broadcast feed or walk-in iPod is added last-minute before the show kicks off that mix or channel can be made safe from any scene change. In addition single parameter updates can be blocked using per scene Recall Filters or a Global Recall Filter. So if you tweak the graphic EQ to reflect the room response when the audience gets in you can block this to prevent any overwriting at scene change. Custom settings for each EQ compressor channel or FX can be saved as Library presets. This lets you store your tried and tested EQ setting for your favourite vocal mic or reverb pattern and apply it to other channels or shows. Libraries Scenes and the complete Show configuration can be saved to a USB key so you can carry the show with you ready to use on another Qu-16. Allen and Heath ZED-12FX USB Compact Stereo Mixer

Allen and Heath ZED-12FX USB Compact Stereo Mixer
Complementing the existing ZED series the ZED FX has been developed around an FX chipset purely for the new model. Our DSP engineers have been working hard crafting and refining beautiful reverb algorithms. The effects are available nowhere else – this quality and integration is only available from the ZED FX.

16 essential time-delay effects add to the already bulging feature set. The mixer is ideal for small groups who don?t want to carry around an effects unit with their gear but who still want great quality FX at their gigs and on their recordings. In addition to the DuoPreTM mic pre-amps 100mm faders and MusiQ EQ section which are shared with the whole ZED range the ZED FX has 16 unique effects designed by our DSP team here in Cornwall. ZED FX ZED FX are easily controlled using 3 buttons and 9 LEDs. Quickly tap the ideal delay time or dial-in the per fect amount of reverb on the lead vocal. One-stop navigation and editing? In fact just as easy as your effects pedals. Hold down the TAP button and press the up or down button to alter the effects parameter for example on patch (9) Plate this would adjust the decay length. The ZED FX is designed to fulfil all the functions a small band would need without their own sound engineer. The layout and features have been arranged to be logical and instantly recognisable at a dark gig- a mixer you can trust to per form. The USB audio interface with its uniquely flexible capability allows different signals to be sent to USB from LR or from selected aux buses. The USB return signal can be routed straight to the LR mix or to a stereo channel. The connectors are placed on the top surface for easy plugging & patching and the construction with individual circuit boards firmly nutted to the top panel is as rock solid as Allen & Heaths top of the range ML Series mixers. Internal FX – 16 separate effects have been crafted into the ZED-FX range. These include Delay and Reverb Ping-Pong delay a selection of reverbs with different room/hall/arena properties a flanger and a chorus. All have been designed to complement the material the engineer is working with. Each of the effects has a parameter which can be altered: pre-delay can be adjusted room sizes tweaked and flanger speed dialled-in. Five of the effects can have their tempo tapped in and the output auditioned by the FX PFL. Inputs – One of the great things about the ZED series is the number and variety of things you can plug in. In addition to the six mono channels there are three dual stereo channels each with a main stereo input on jack sockets and with the ability to take additional stereo inputs from phono sockets or from the USB audio input flexibility gives you control. 6 mic/line channels are provided on ZED-12FX – plenty for mics or DI boxes for a small band duo or solo performer 4 stereo line inputs – dual inputs both with gain and 2-band EQ DuoPreTM – Based on the proven pre-amps from the hugely successful PA series the ZED series has new DuoPreTM pre-amps which use a two stage design with carefully controlled amounts of gain in each stage. When amplifying the signal from the XLR input the gain range is huge – 69dB of range to be exact – and is very evenly distributed around the gain control meaning better control of signal level. Most of the gain comes from the first stage so unwanted noise is kept to a minimum. Line level signals are simply plugged into the second stage of the pre-amp by using the line input jack socket which has the great advantage of less noise when using the line input. EQ section – ZED-FX features a musical 3-band EQ derived from the acclaimed GL2400 mixer. The design utilises MusiQ – optimised slope (or Q factor) for equalising individual instruments. Auxiliary sends – 4 aux sends are provided of which 1&2 are prefade for foldback monitoring and 3 & 4 post-fade for effects sends. A stereo signal can be sent from auxes via USB to computer to create 2 separate record feeds independent of the main LR mix (1&2) and or used as FX sends (3&4). USB audio flexibility – Getting audio to and from a computer easily is now a common requirement for live sound and music production. The way we have implemented this on ZED is super-flexible and super-easy! No longer do you need to fiddle around the back of your PC to get to the soundcard inputs only to find that the levels are all wrong and noisy. Just plug in a USB lead to your ZED select the USB routing on the mixer and the device on your computer and thats it! Quality audio to and from your PC or Mac. Three switches provide different send/return configurations for recording playback and utilising external FX. Build – The ZED-12FX has been designed using individual vertically mounted circuit boards with each rotary control fixed with a metal nut to the front panel – making a much more robust product that will resist damage and give years of reliable use. ZED also has professional 100mm faders for ultimate control over your levels. SONAR LE – provided Free! – Allen & Heath have teamed up with Cakewalk to bundle SONAR LE with this ZED mixer. The two team up together in many ways – for example straightforward recording of a stereo mix recording tracks individually to build up a song or for inserting a SONAR LE effects plug-in. With its responsive touchscreen 25 motor faders and acclaimed AnalogiQ recallable preamps Qu-24 combines exceptional ease of use with class-leading audio performance. Drawing on the technologies and workflow pioneered on GLD and iLive touring systems Qu makes Allen & Heath digital mixing more accessible and more compact than ever. ANALOGIQTM PREAMPS Qu-24s twenty four AnalogiQTM total recall preamps feature zero crossing detection and an advanced padless 1dB step gain stage closely allied to the DSP for optimal gain accuracy and audio transparency. THE MIXING EXPERIENCE Having massive processing power and advanced functionality is great but it counts for nothing if you can?t access the controls you need in a heartbeat. Once you start using Qu-24 youll sense the years of research into ergonomics and the hands-on mixing experience that our team has drawn upon to deliver a wonderfully natural layout and workflow. Its not about recreating an analogue interface its about creating an experience thats fluid comfortable and intuitive for novices digital natives and old school road warriors alike making all the benefits of digital mixing technology readily accessible to all. THE SUPERSTRIP All your key processing tools are presented in a clean layout on the SuperStrip with 1 function per physical control. The SuperStrip is complemented by an onscreen Touch Channel for intuitive access to full processing parameters without clutter or complex menu structures. Processing for Mono and Stereo inputs includes trim polarity HPF gate insert 4 band PEQ compressor and delay. The main LR and the Mono mixes have controls for Insert 1/3 octave GEQ compressor and delay. The Stereo mixes provide Insert 4-band PEQ compressor delay and balance control. FADER AUTOMATION Moving faders started as an expensive option in the studio desks of the 80s and later became the norm with the advent of digital technology. Nevertheless some entry-level digital mixers lack this precious commodity which is a fundamental part of the Total Recall approach. Fader automation is essential for rapid mixing especially when youre dealing with multiple monitor mixes ? just press a mix key and the faders immediately fly to the send levels for that mix. Qu-24 features 25 motorized ALPS faders 24 arranged over 2 layers allowing instant access to all channels and masters in a compact space plus a dedicated master fader which dynamically follows the mix selection. A third Custom layer is available for ad-hoc user strip layout where any combination of Inputs FX Sends FX Returns and Mix masters can be assigned. ILIVE FX Qu-24s dynamics and FX algorithms are derived from the FX used in our iLive pro touring series. Some of the worlds most respected audio engineers have chosen to use iLives FX on tour in preference to top-end plug-ins and external FX units. Qu-24 boasts 4 stereo iLive FX engines featuring lovingly crafted emulations of legendary classic reverbs gated reverbs delays modulators flangers and more. The FX library has the ability to grow with future firmware releases. FX are returned to the mix on dedicated return channels so youre not tying up your mono and stereo input channels. Each Stereo FX Return has a dedicated 4 band PEQ. TOTAL RECALL True digital mixing is about being able to save and recall scenes (snapshots) at the press of a button. Qu-24 can store up to 100 full Scenes for recall at will. This lets you store your tried and tested SM58 EQ or reverb pattern and apply it to other channels or shows. Libraries Scenes and the complete Show configuration can be saved to a USB key so you can carry the show with you ready to use on another Qu mixer. They are also perfect for recording either a live show or an audio project at home can be built up track by track using the USB digital audio interface. The flexibility and quality of these mixers make them stand out from the crowd. You can plug your guitars or instruments straight into the class A discrete FET high impedance inputs cater for up to four microphones two stereo sources with MP3 player compatibility separate 2-track record outputs and a stereo playback input for 2-track replay or perhaps interval music from a CD player XLR main stereo outputs with inserts comprehensive monitoring with headphones and separate monitor speaker outputs 48V microphone phantom power DI level switching for sub mixing and not least of all the same digital effects algorithms as those used on our flagship digital consoles costing 150 times as much! The newly designed inputs have been crafted with the aim of replicating the sound of a classic guitar or instrument tube pre-amp in a combo or head amp. An extremely high input impedance ensures loading on pick-ups is minimal and a Class A FET (field effect transistor) circuit powered from 48V is employed to give the valve-like gain stage. There is a gain “Boost” switch associated with the guitar inputs which boosts gain by 26dB to cater for instruments with very low level outputs and the overdrive characteristics of the guitar inputs are very similar to a valve (tube) circuit being asymmetric and soft. All this makes for a wonderfully natural sound to be reproduced from the instrument full of warmth and character. Features/Specifications: Inputs: One of the great things about the ZED series is the number and variety of things you can plug in. In addition to the sixteen mono channels there are two dual stereo channels each with a main stereo input on jack sockets and with additional inputs on phono sockets. the USB return can be selected to one of the additional inputs so that it feeds either the main LR bus or the stereo channel. Guitar DI: In place of the DuoPre the ZED-10 &10FX have pre-amps similar in design to our MixWizard range of mixers but with a twist! Inputs 3 & 4 have a high impedance jack input capable of taking either a normal line level or a low level input from a guitar pickup. EQ Section: ZED-10FX is equipped with a responsive 3-band EQ with MusiQ an optimised slope (or Q factor) for equalising individual instruments. Auxiliary sends: 6 aux sends are provided of which 1&2 are prefade for foldback monitoring and 3 & 4 are switched pre or post-fade for effects sends. and 5&6 are post-fade. Auxes 1&2 can be sent to the USB bus for recording pre-fade signals independently to the main mix. Auxes 5&6 can also be sent to the USB bus for use as effects sends. USB Audio Flexibility: Getting audio to and from a computer easily is now a common requirement for live sound and music production. Build: The ZED-10FX has been designed using individual vertically mounted circuit boards with each rotary control fixed with a metal nut to the front panel – making a much more robust product that will resist damage and give years of reliable use. AmpliTube X-GEAR Software: Allen & Heath is pleased to announce a partnership with leading music software company IK Multimedia to bundle its pioneering AmpliTube X-GEAR Further Specs: 4 mic/line inputs 2 with Class A FET high impedance Responsive 3-band swept mid EQ with MusiQ 2 stereo sources with MP3 player compatibility Separate 2-track record outputs XLR main stereo outputs with inserts Comprehensive monitoring 48V microphone phantom power DI level switching for sub mixin Allen & Heath PA-DJ-and-Lighting DBC
